In our area red oak is the most requested.

How long do wood floors last?

Wood floors should last a lifetime when properly maintained.

How much dust is created during the sanding process?

There is a fine dust that is created in the sanding areas, to help eliminate dust, we suggest closing off all adjacent rooms. We do hang plastic in average sized doorways.

How long will it take to sand and finish my floors?

Depending on the total square feet to be sanded, the process takes a minimum of three to four days.

How long does it take to install hardwood floors?

After a site visit, you will receive an estimated time frame.

I heard humidity/heat can affect your hardwood floors, is that true?

Humidity produces moisture which will expand your floor and may cause cupping. Humidity levels should be monitored during the humid months and kept at 45%. During the heating season, excessive dryness causes floors to shrink, humidifiers may be needed to put moisture back into the air.

What is the lead time required to schedule installation and/or sanding and finishing work?

You should figure between one and three weeks depending on the time of year.

How long does it take for the floor finish to dry once it is applied?

Polyurethane will take 6 - 8 hours to dry, perhaps longer when humid. Water base floor finish allow 2 - 4 hours to dry.

Can I live in the home while the work is completed?

Yes, but you will have to remain off the floors during the drying process. Anyone with allergies or pregnant women should consult physicians.

Can my animals stay in the house while the work is performed?

Yes, but they should be secured in a safe area away from where the work is being completed.

What are my choices regarding floor sheen?

Your choices are gloss, semi-gloss or satin. You can stop by our showroom to view your options.

Do you move furniture?

No, we are not equipped to move furniture.

When can I put my furniture back?

You should wait a minimum of 24 hours. Large area rugs should be kept off for a minimum of two weeks while the finish cures.

What time should I expect you each day?

You will receive a phone call each afternoon with the estimated time of arrival for the following day.

What are my payment options?

We accept both cash and checks, with 1/2 down the day work begins and the remaining balance due upon completion.
